10 Best full-coverage concealers

I know that many of you might be struggling with dark circles and I know for sure that many of my clients as do I struggle with them. Lots of people are afraid of concealers, especially full-coverage ones, thinking that they are suitable only for heavy makeup looks. I’m here to tell that concealers can be your best friend if you learn how to use it the right way. A good concealer, applied as it was meant to, is going to cover up your dark circle, your bad decisions and the lack of sleep.

When choosing a concealer you have to keep in mind the following: what type of skin do I have under my eyes, what color would suit me best and ultimately how much coverage do I really need?

If your skin is dry, opt for a more moisturizing concealer like the one from Becca or Laura Mercier and stay far far away from Shape tape. On the other hand, if you find that makeup smudges easily around your eyes and the area is generally oilier, choose a more suitable product like Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer or the one from Estee Lauder and always set your under eye area with translucent powder. (All products are mentioned below with links)

When you apply the right shade of concealer, the area should be bright and in no case ashy. If you experience this it means that either you went for a much lighter shade, either you need a corrector beforehand. Your concealer should be with one, max. 2 shades lighter than your foundation. If that’s not the issue, test a light orange corrector to cancel out the darkness and then apply a thin layer of concealer for brightness.

Application wise, the golden rule for me is to work in thin layers and build more as I go. Apply a small amount and blend it out with a makeup sponge. Let it sit for a little and then see if you need more. After you are happy with the result, apply a small amount of translucent powder to ensure that the product will not disappear during the day.

Now that that’s settled, here’s a list with some of my all-time favorite products that are always present in my kit:

Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Flawless Wear Concealer

Suited for aging and dry skin doesn’t feel or look cakey and comes in a lot of shades. Provides good coverage and doesn’t settle into fine lines.

Laura Mercier’s Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer

This concealer works wonders on dark circles being undetectable on the skin. You’ll find cool, warm and neutral undertones, so it should be easy to find your perfect shade.

With a great shade range, this concealer covers amazingly scars and spots and at the same time, it protects you from unwanted sun damage.

NYX Gotcha Covered Concealer

This is a full coverage concealer infused with coconut oil so it’s easy to blend and adds a healthy glow. Has a waterproof formula which makes it extra long lasting and hey, it’s affordable.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

With a luminous finish, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer provides a buildable medium-to-full coverage. It has a gorgeous glow and makes your skin so smooth under the eyes while lasting a long time without creasing. I tried many times to separate myself from this one just because there are always cool new things on the market, but it simply blows my mind each time I get my hands on it.

BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer

Blurs imperfections, conceals hyperpigmentation and perfects the skin tone. It blends like a dream and layers beautifully. This product is cruelty-free and great for drier under-eye areas.

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

Don’t be fooled: Despite drugstore prices, Maybelline’s coverage can compete with high-end brands. Super-concentrated treatment concealer covers up dark circles and fine lines. Unfortunately here, the shade range is not the greatest but definitely a great formula.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Concealer

First of all, it comes in 50 shades! 50 Shades and 4 skin undertones: light, medium, tan and deep. It’s very easy to get lost, but in the end, you’ll find your perfect shade. A soft-mate long wearing formula that it’s going to cover up everything. It’s super pigmented, so a little goes a long way and each shade of the concealer corresponds with one of the foundation shades with the same name, and you can go up a shade from there.

Huda Beauty the Overachiever Concealer

Available in 20 shades, from fair to rich this concealer covers everything, from red spots to dark circle, easy to blend and doesn’t crease. Has a luminous-matte finish and will totally transform your skin into a blank canvas.

Tarte Shape Tape

Meet the Holy Grail of concealers and one of the most iconic ones. It will be very hard to find a makeup tutorial where beauty gurus aren’t using Shape Tape for some part of their makeup routine. But, from my point of view, this concealer isn’t for everybody, and you need to moisturize very good your under-eye area in order to prevent over drying. Also, I think this isn’t for everyday use but good for special occasions. It has a very full coverage formula and will disguise everything.

These are some of my trusty concealers that I hope will come in handy to you as much as they do for me. Tell us which one is your favorite in the comments bellow. Also, check out this article about 2019 hair trends.
